Wooden roof in the province of Parma

New purpose for the old tomato factory

Recovered: In an important reconstruction project, planned by the company Mutti and the architect Paolo Bedogni, existing and new elements were combined to form a uniform mosaic. This brought the abandoned area of the factory back to life. LignoAlp was responsible for the renovation of the wooden roof.

The village of Piazza is located at the foot of the hill between Montechiarugolo, Traversetolo and Basilicanova. The Mutti brothers' factory, where tomatoes were processed, was founded in this strip of land in 1899. Offices were to be built in a building that had been empty for some time. The managing director of the company, Francesco Mutti, entrusted the planning to architect Paolo Bedogni, a specialist in the restoration of historic buildings and the improvement of energy efficiency. A great deal of sensitivity was required to carry out the work in a significant context.
