A wooden chapel for the Holy See

A chapel for the Holy See

Spiritual: "Vatican Chapels" is the title of the Vatican's contribution to its first-ever participation in the historic Venice Architecture Biennale. The Holy See was able to win ten international architects and designers, including names such as Norman Foster, for its project. Each of them deals with the spiritual and intimate place of the chapel.

LignoAlp was invited by the Vatican to build the chapels and realised the visionary project of the Japanese star architect Teronobu Fujimori, who made use of historical Zen architecture for his chapel. Fujimori is one of Japan's most unconventional architects. His surreal and fantastic buildings made of natural building materials are known worldwide.
