Art installation at the "La Biennale"

Two shed's for the Biennale

Historical: For the "La Biennale di Venezia 2023", the American architect, cultural activist and academic Sean Canty has designed an installation called "Edgar's Shed". LignoAlp turned this work of art into a reality and handled the technical planning and the joinery.

The Biennale di Venezia is an international art exhibition in Venice. It has been held every two years since 1895, making it the oldest Biennale and the oldest international exhibition of contemporary art. Sean Canty's contribution to the Laboratory of the Future is inspired by two sheds that Canty's great-grandfather Edgard, whom he called "Bubba", built in Eliot, South Carolina. One shed is a home of joy, belonging, and struggle. The other is a juke joint filled with smoke, rhythm, and blues.
The most challenging aspects of the realisation were the connections between the different parts, the round wall with the cut-out on the roof and the overhang of the roof at the corner.
